Former Hampton Beach McDonald’s space to become Seafood eatery
By: Max Sullivan

The owners of the Hampton Beach Casino have purchased the former Ocean Boulevard McDonald’s location, and the space’s new tenant will be a walk-up seafood eatery.

JB’s Seafood is set to open in mid-June at the old McDonald’s location at 187 Ocean Boulevard, co-owned by Jimmy Trainor and Bob Schaake. Trainor owns the Boardwalk Inn and Café, while Schaake manages the Hampton House Hotel. The name JB’s stands for Jimmy and Bob.

The property was officially purchased May 19 by Hampton Beach Casino, Inc. for $895,000. It was previously a franchise owned by the Amherst-based Napoli Group and had been open since 1977. It was believed to once be the only seasonal McDonald’s in the country.

JB’s Seafood’s menu will offer lobster steamers, lobster rolls, fried seafood, sandwiches, wraps, salads and plain burgers. Trainor said the restaurant will stand out as a seafood place, as many walk-up food places on the boulevard serve other food like pizza and fried dough. He said the goal is to model JB’s after places like Little Jack’s near Boar’s Head and Brown’s Lobster Pound in Seabrook.

“This will be like going back to the past where it’s actually seafood,” said Trainor. “It will be an affordable alternative.” Read more at SeacoastOnline.com.
