Nibblesworth restaurant to open at old Blue Mermaid site
By: Jeff McMenemy

The Nibblesworth Wood Fire Grill restaurant will open its doors for the first time on Sept. 12 at the former location of the Blue Mermaid.

Jenny and Tom Nelson said they have renovated almost the entire restaurant in advance of the opening.

“You’re nervous, but you’re more excited than nervous,” Jenny Nelson said Wednesday.

Tom Nelson added “it’s a good nervous,” adding “we’re hiring people and it’s just an awesome feeling.”

Their comments came after the city’s Zoning Board of Adjustment unanimously approved two sign variances for their new business. The couple is leasing the building at 409 The Hill from Scott and Karen Logan, who ran the Blue Mermaid restaurant.

The board granted the couple a variance to allow signage on the side of the building where there’s no public entrance and a second one to allow a sign of 24 square feet where 16 square feet is allowed. Read more at SeacoastOnline.com.
